What is the Certificate in Evangelism and Local Mission?

A changing world needs a fresh approach to learning about mission. The certificate is our way to help local people obtain what they really want - real skills and real experience resulting in real churches that grow.

How does it work?

New Zealand is a big place, and Kiwis are busy people, so we have adopted a flexible approach to training, in which students take a long weekend (3-4 days)  4 times a year to complete the Certificate in Evangelism and Local Mission over two years. The certificate training uses interactive learning where much of the work is done in small groups. Bible teaching and theology are fully integrated into each unit. Movie clips, role plays, simulations and reflection exercises make learning accessible, practical and fun. The assessment tasks involve putting your learning into practice locally. We've made it a level playing field for all people regardless of their educational background.

What does the certificate involve?

Core subjects are built around the four areas below.

Kingdom Foundations

A Tale of Two Kingdoms - the struggle between good and evil.

Big Stories - redemption and other meta-narratives

Self and Spirit

Live the Kingdom through personal disciplines

Freedom From Scripts and Addictions

Community

Participate in Kingdom Community - appreciating personality

Cultivate in Kingdom Community - creating team culture.

Mission

Engage a people group - look, listen, learn and love

Make disciples - a relational approach to evangelism and discipleship.

What does it cost?

Each unit costs $500, which includes travel to and from the learning base in Auckland; food, accommodation and learning materials for each intensive; plus assistance while you complete your assessment tasks in the field.

When and where does training happen?

Initially training intensives will take place in Auckland – this may change in future.
